Regata Festival dos Oceanos

The CASINO DE LISBOA invites the Media today, friday the 15th of August at 7 pm, to attend the Prize Award Ceremony of the Festival dos Oceanos Regata, that will be held at Casinos de Lisboa - Parque Expo, in presence of the Sailors, Oficial Entities, Sponsors and Organization.

O CASINO DE LISBOA convida a Comunicação Social a assistir hoje, sexta-feira dia 15 de Agosto às 19 h00 a estar presente na Cerimónia de Entrega de Prémios dos Velejadores da Regata Festival dos Oceanos, a realizar nos Casino de Lisboa – Parque Expo, contando com a presença dos Concorrentes, Entidades Oficias, Sponsors e Organização.

Joerg e Olaf Riechers, alemães, foram os primeiros a cortar a linha de chegada, consagrando-se com mais esta vitória como os vencedores absolutos da Regata Festival dos Oceanos. Nesta etapa, a opção de navegação do Mare.de foi a que acertou em cheio pois permitiu ao skipper, vencedor da Regata Festival dos Oceanos, ir ao encontro do vento que permanecia a oeste do meridiano do Cabo S.Vicente. O Mare.de foi o único que, logo após a largada em Rabat, seguiu para oeste. E fez a opção certa!

No dia oito de Agosto os Minis largaram de Rabat para Lisboa, com vento fraco e vaga larga tendo começado a chegar ao Rio Tejo ao fim da tarde (20h00) do dia 12, terça-feira. Às 14.00h, já entraram os cinco primeiros Minis pela seguinte ordem; Mare.de, NoWar, LayLane, CompositeWorks e PRO3OC2, estando o GoldenApple está a 45nm da linha de chegada - só chegou na manhã de dia 13,  o veleiro de Luca Tosi e Giancarlos Toscano, pois velejava com um problema na vela grande.

Vindos de África e a caminho da Europa, quase no fim da etapa, os velejadores da regata Festival dos Oceanos ainda conseguem surpreender: Laylane e Mare.de fazem opções estratégicas completamente diferentes, escolhendo o primeiro uma maior aproximação à costa e o segundo seguir ao largo. Mas, e já que estão aproximadamente à mesma distância do Cabo de São Vicente - os barcos estão neste momento entre 113 e 121 milhas náuticas do cabo - vai ser empolgante descobrir qual dos velejadores vai conseguir chegar mais depressa...

Coming from Africa and on their way to Europe, almost at the end of the route, the 'Festival dos Oceanos' race sailors still manage to surprise us: Laylane and Mare.de, choosing completly different sailing strategies - the first sailing close to shore, the second far into the Ocean. Since they are at approximately the same distance from the Cape of St. Vincent - all boats are now at between 113 and 121 nautical miles of the Cape - it will be a thrill to find out wich of the skippers will get there faster...

É dia 1 de Agosto e LayLane e Mare.de chegaram hoje de manhã, tendo cruzado a linha de chegada situada à entrada da barra do Tejo às 8.30. Está ainda prevista a chegada do NoWar para cerca das 15 horas de hoje. Durante a noite ou madrugada de dia 1 para 2 devem chegar os restantes minis.

It's the first of August, and LayLane and Mare.de have arrived this morning, having crossed the finishing line at the Tagus River entrance at 8.30. The arrival of NoWar is expected at about 3pm, today. During the night or in the early morning hours, the rest of theMinis shall start arriving.

Desde Algeciras que o Laylane e o Mare.de navegam lado a lado, e já não estão muito longe de Lisboa... A chegada prevê-se para esta noite.

It's been since Algeciras that Laylane and Mare.de are sailing side to side, and they are not far from Lisbon. The boats are due to start arriving tonight.

For the Algecira- Lisbon course, Guillaume Rottee, Chairman of the Race, says the the wind will blowing from North-Northwest at 39 knots. After the passage of Cape St. Vincent the Portuguese 'Nortada' will blow, but - and recalling the difficulty of the first leg of this race, where only five competitors managed to arrive before the time limit - "The Atlantic Ocean is much easier, the wace is broader and vessels sail faster. In Algeciras there is the meeting of the two oceans, with waves and opposite winds. I think that in 2/3 days we'll all meet in Lisbon, where we'll have a big party with the sailors, organization and traditional boats. We will stay at the traditional Doca de Alcantara and I am sure we will be very welcome and have a great festival of sailing. "

Para a etapa Algeciras-Lisboa Guillaume Rottee, director da regata, diz que a previsão meteorológica é de vento a soprar de Nor-Noroeste a 39 nós. Depois da passagem do Cabo de São Vicente soprará a nortada portuguesa, mas que - e relembrando a dificuldade da primeira perna desta regata, em que só cinco concorrentes conseguiram chegar antes do tempo-limite - "o Oceano Atlântico é muito mais fácil, a vaga é larga e por isso os veleiros têm melhores progressões. Em Algeciras dá-se o encontro dos dois Oceanos, por isso há tanta vaga e vento contrário. Penso que em 2/3 dias estaremos em Lisboa onde vaihaver uma grande festa com os velejadores, organização e barcos tradicionais. Vamos ficar na tradicional Doca de Alcântara e tenho a certeza que vamos ser muito bem acolhidos e ter uma grande festa da vela.”

E aconteceu um novo Match Race às 16.30 UTC, com LayLane e Golden Apple navegar juntos 82 Nm, a 15 Nm de distância de Algeciras.

De acordo com as informações recebidas, o “Bingo” terá embatido em fundo de rocha ao tentar uma rota mais junto a terra; da colisão resultaram danos no patilhão e nos lemes.
